Background of the study
Product demo events are a vital marketing tool used to showcase the functionality and benefits of consumer electronics. In Port Harcourt, consumer electronics firms organize live demonstrations to allow potential customers to experience products firsthand, thereby accelerating market adoption. These events create an interactive environment where consumers can assess product quality, ask questions, and receive immediate feedback, reducing uncertainties associated with new technology (Ifeanyi, 2023). Demo events not only serve as an educational platform but also as a means of building excitement and trust in the product. By integrating advanced technologies like virtual reality and interactive displays, companies enhance the demonstration experience, making it more engaging and memorable (Olu, 2024). Research indicates that such immersive experiences can significantly influence consumer perceptions, leading to quicker market acceptance and increased sales (Nwachukwu, 2023). This study examines the impact of product demo events on the market adoption of consumer electronics, analyzing how these events affect consumer behavior and drive overall market penetration.

Statement of the problem
Although product demo events are widely employed to drive market adoption, there is insufficient research on their measurable impact in the consumer electronics sector in Port Harcourt. Firms invest in elaborate demo events without a clear understanding of how these events translate into increased market adoption and sales (Adamu, 2023). Challenges such as event logistics, technological integration, and inconsistent consumer engagement further complicate the assessment of demo event effectiveness. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating the relationship between product demo events and market adoption, identifying the factors that enhance or inhibit consumer response during such events, and proposing actionable recommendations for optimizing event outcomes (Chukwu, 2024).

Objectives of the study:

To evaluate the impact of product demo events on market adoption.

To identify key factors that influence consumer responses during demo events.

To propose strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of product demonstrations.

Research questions:

How do product demo events affect market adoption in consumer electronics?

What factors enhance consumer engagement during demo events?

What improvements can be made to optimize demo event outcomes?

Significance of the study
This study is significant as it provides critical insights into the role of product demo events in driving market adoption in the consumer electronics sector. The findings will help firms optimize demo events to maximize consumer engagement and accelerate market penetration. Additionally, the research contributes to the academic literature by linking event-based marketing with tangible market outcomes, offering practical recommendations for industry stakeholders (Bello, 2023).

Scope and limitations of the study:
This study is limited to assessing the impact of product demo events on market adoption for a single consumer electronics firm in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and does not consider other promotional strategies or markets.

Definitions of terms:

Product Demo Event: A live presentation showcasing product features and benefits.

Market Adoption: The rate at which a product is accepted and purchased by consumers.

Consumer Electronics: Electronic devices designed for everyday use.
